Vintage UNION 8 Drawer Engineers Toolmaker Wooden Tool Cabinet Chest Toolbox

  

Fabulous vintage Union 8 drawer wooden cabinet with lock and key. The toolbox is great quality, constructed from solid wood (possible oak or mahogany) with a dovetail jointed outer shell and 8 comb jointed draws. I've seen these before with 7 drawers, but not very often with 8, so a pretty rare thing I think. This is really cool and in very good condition for age. I replaced the top handle with a new leather one as the original was rotted away, and I've cleaned and waxed it and now looks lovely.

All the original little drawer button handles are present and all drawers open/close as they should. There is a wooden front cover bearing the Union badge, which is lockable with the key still present. The door can be tucked away underneath to leave the drawers exposed (which is how I have had it).

It's in really good condition with a few marks as to be expected, and one of the rear bottom corners has a very slight amount of wear (see photo). Other than that it's great and very solid. I don't really know what it would have been used for, possibly engineers tools, watchmaker bits and pieces, paperwork? Collection preferred from Beverley East Yorkshire, but will post if required.
