Vintage Moore & Wright Wooden Engineer Cabinet 7 Drawer Key Front Panel Toolbox

  
New information added Thursday 23/05/19 shown below underlined in bold. The price has been reduced. A mid-century Moore & Wright wooden engineers cabinet in good used vintage condition. There is a thin crack line across the central part of the front panel. (see photos 2 &3) This issue is cosmetic. The panel is sound and strong with no weakness in it. There is also normal usage wear to all parts. Please study the photos; as can be seen there is usage wear around each of the drawer handles and a patina consistent with long-term industrial usage all over the piece. Complete with handle, front panel and lock in working order with a single key. There are 7 drawers with felts. It is solid, sound with good carpentry. Nice finger joints on the drawers and the carcass.

The carcass also has steel corners braces. The drawers slide in and out without any difficulty. Marked with the M&W logo and name on the bottom drawer and the front panel. This cabinet has had a full working life and been used for hobby purposes for a couple of decades more. It has the the kind of wear and tear you would expect for it's age and usage.

There are scuffs, scratches and marks as per the photos. One of the drawer felts is loose and has a scrape and some shrinkage. (See photo) All other felts are good. The handle is made of a leather layer reinforced with a composite layer. The leather is bit dry and has some cracking. The composite layer is good. The handle is sound and strong. This old thing has already lived a life and a half and it looks that way. It is however strong and sound and has at least one more lifetime left in it. It would still serve its original purpose but would also be of interest to collectors, hobbyists, arts and crafts, sewing, haberdashery, model makers etc. The cabinet has an a strong smell of "old polished wood".

This is not unpleasant but please be aware of it. It will be fine in a workshop but some people might not like it in some rooms of the house.
